China Food Systems Action Hub
About

In our current food syetems, many implement policies and practices every day, through multiple entry points throughout food systems, that directly and indirectly influence the availability, accessibility, affordability, and appeal of healthy diets and how they are produced. However, people, policies (including regulations, laws, standards), programs, and practices typically focus on sector-specific goals, meaning fragmentation ("siloed working") is the norm in efforts to deliver healthy diets rather than the coordination and co-benefits of multi-duty action on diets for both nutrition and environmental sustainability goals. Spaces for all relevant stakeholders to take part in sharing views, generating ideas, and collaborating in developing solutions that can be put into action to transform food systems are lacking.

In the lead up to the 2021 United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS), the Good Food Fund was heavily involved in the Action Track 2 (Shift to Sustainable Consumption Patterns) process and initiated the UNFSS-AT2 China Action Hub, which mobilized all areas of society through a variety of activities (10 Independent FSS Dialogues, UNFSS SME events, practice case collection, youth empowerment activities, Sustainable Food Education Action Network activities and public engagement activities) and made a great contribution to the UNFSS.

To further drive this momentum, the UNFSS-AT2 China Action Hub joined forces with several partner organizations in early 2022, to co-found the China Food Systems Action Hub, as a long-term mechanism beyond the UNFSS. The China Food Systems Action Hub actively engages with a broad range of companies and organizations as members of the Hub, aiming to connect and empower stakeholders, contextualize food systems issues, and facilitate resources integration, project cooperation and communications among all parties, through collecting practice cases, convening dialogues, and initiating working groups.
