Project description
The Food Educational Farming School for the NAZ Civilization is a college student food education group created by Xiangsihu College of Guangxi Minzu University. Through continuously studying Guangxi's NAZ culture and exploring home gardening techniques and natural rice farming methods, the Farming School helps students understand Guangxi's local sustainable food systems and cultures, establish healthy eating and lifestyle habits, and develop positive personal relationships. The school also preserves the cultural knowledge, history, and heritage of the local NAZ people through scientific research and practical exploration.
Project features
Based in Guangxi, the project focuses on the rice farming culture of the local Zhuang and Dong ethnic groups, preserving and promoting Guangxi's indigenous sustainable food systems and food cultures through hands-on youth education programming.
Students practice local agricultural techniques, study nutrition and food knowledge, and learn how to prepare local traditional foods. The project gives students a comprehensive overview of the local food culture while teaching them healthy and sustainable food concepts and deepening their understanding of the food system through scientific research practices.

The project was awarded research funding by the Department of Education, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
