Project description

In the vast expanse of China's land, there are many remote communities that produce high-quality agricultural products but lack the transportation links or business expertise to market them effectively. As the people who grow these traditional products earn less and less income from them, they gradually give up, threatening the village's economy and community. Longnan, in Gansu Province's famous "olive belt", was once such a place.

Longnan's local olives are just as good as any grown in Europe, but due to the lack of sales channels, Longnan olive farmers have lived in poverty for a long time. A Certified B Corporation, Olive Times (Gansu Times Olive Technology Company, Ltd.) was launched as a social enterprise with the mission of reversing this situation. The founding team applied their international vision and strong business acumen to create a domestic market for high-quality Chinese extra virgin olive oil while simultaneously preserving the ecologically important olive trees that help prevent soil erosion and desertification in one of China's driest regions.

With the belief that "business for good" is non-negotiable if we want to have a sustainable future, Olive Times demonstrates the power of the business sector to advance the cause of ecological sustainability and rural revitalization.
